A Usdansky Family Tree

This website containing my incomplete Usdansky family tree, was assembled from various bits and pieces of information provided by family members, possible family members, other genealogists who have posted family trees that tie into the Usdansky family on various websites, websites including, but not limited to www.jewishgen.org, www.ellisisland.org, www.ellisisland.com, www.ancestry.com, www.rootsweb.com, and all of those sites from which I have obtained information but have forgotten to cite here.  Any inaccuracies or errors finding their way into this web site are the responsibility of the author of this site. The actual web pages were generated using the program Gramps by Don Allingham running under Linux.  

Twin Trunks:

The information herein actually represents two Usdansky family trees; the descendants of Chaim-Moshe Usdansky and the descendants of Mordechai Usdansky.  Family members in both trees tells us that the two families are closely related, but nobody with whom I've talked or corresponded in the course of my research seems to know how we're all related (or else they know and don't want to admit it).  For the purpose of creating this website, I have therefore made the arbitrary (and, I think, likely) assumption that Chaim-Moshe and Mordechai were brothers. 

Two Grafted Limbs:

Family members in both trees also know of a branch which includes the Zeitchick families and their descendants.  Again, nobody in the family with whom I've had contact seems to know the exact connection.  What we do know from a posting at jewishgen.org that Chana Roshka Usdansky was the wife of Nochum Herschel Zeitchick.  From ellisisland.org, we see that Mordche Uzdanski (Mordechai-Gabriel Usdansky) arrived in the US in 1902, he was accompanied by his 7-year old cousin, Scheine Seiczek.  Not knowing where to place Chana Roshka Usdansky, I've listed her as a daughter of Mordechai Usdansky above.

In addition to the known relatives, I have encountered a number of other Usdansky families.  The first of these are the descendants of Charles Usdansky.  Charles has a plaque on the Wall of Honor at Ellis Island.  I did exchange email with one of Charles's descendants; she filled me in on his descendants, but couldn't take me back father.  However, this one may actually be easy.  Inscribed on Charles's gravestone are both his Hebrew name (Tanachum Ital) and that of his father (Mordechai).  I've therefore listed Charles as a son of Mordechai Usdansky above.
